I have been a Textiles Design and Technology teacher for 22 years, currently studying for MA Textiles in Swansea and hoping to go on to PhD. I am a passionate believer in creativity and engagement with the arts in schools. I would love the opportunity to work with pupils and staff to develop an inspirational project that both enhances and supports the learning experiences of children. I have a wealth of experience of designing creative hands-on activities and projects that bring literature to life from Dylan Thomas' A Childs Christmas in Wales to Lewis Carrolls Alice in Wonderland. These include giant Madhatter hats, fashion shows using recycled materials and felted underwater worlds inspired by Welsh myths and legends. At primary level, I have run taster days and transition workshops for children as they prepare for secondary school. My hands-on approach ensures all pupils are involved in making, creating and doing in a fun environment where everyone feels free to express their ideas and work on a theme without the usual classroom constraints. I look forward to discussing ideas and planning some very exciting and creative sessions with you!
