St Peter’s Church in Wales Primary School is searching for an innovative and inspiring creative practitioner/practitioner to work with 2 classes of Year 6 (age 10-11) pupils, (38 in total).
We want to explore: Can the use of Creative Learning Skills help our year 6 learners recognise the importance of, and develop the understanding of, being an Ethical Informed Citizen.
We would welcome experience in anyone (or more) of the following disciplines: art (in particular light installation/innovation); drama; music; digital set design; or film.
The aim is to successfully design a project as a team, between teachers, pupils and creative practitioner(s), that will support the learning of the spring term topic: ‘Blue Abyss’ and explore new ways of teaching this topic creatively. This will have huge environmental, climate and ethical opportunities that will blend into the project and marble through our curriculum, creating lots of literacy opportunities, and culminating in a showcase/performance which could include any of the following: musical compositions; film; artwork; costumes; digital scenery, and innovative light installations.
St Peter’s Primary School also has the added excitement of partnering up with ‘Project Seagrass’ and is particularly passionate about basing our curriculum/project on the work of this charity, ensuring that our pupils, staff and community, connect to the natural world by improving understanding of the environmental impact and huge importance of seagrass meadows. The team hopes that the sessions will be led in English but that they will also celebrate the Welsh language, coastline and eco systems as part of the project.
